Aloo Bonda/Aloo Chop

Ingredients

For Bonda Batter
  • Besan/Chick peas flour(1 cup)
  • Chili pdr (1/2 tsp)
  • Turmeric pdr(1/2tsp)
  • baking soda (1tsp)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying
For Bonda Filling
  • Potato(3-4 medium size)
  • Onion(1 small, chopped)
  • Green chili(1-2, finely chopped)
  • ginger crushed(2tsp)
  • Garlic crushed(2 tsp)
  • Coriander leaves(1/4 cup,finely chopped)
  • mustard seeds(1/2 tsp)
  • Cumin seed(1/2 tsp)
  • Salt to taste
Preparation





  1. Boil the potatoes for 1-2 whistle then peel the skin and mash them nicely and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in pan,add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, wait till it pop.
  3. Then add garlic,ginger,green chillies and finely chopped onions,sprinkle some salt and saute nicely till onion turns pink.
  4. Then add the turmeric powder,mashed potatoes,enough salt and mix everything well and fry for 2 minutes.
  5. Lastly add chopped coriander leaves and mix well and fry for another minute.
  6. potato filling preparation is over allow it to cool for sometime.
  7. when it get cools down,divide them in to equal portion and make small/medium size balls n keep aside.
  8. Now take a mixing bowl, add besan flour,chilli pdr, turmeric pdr, salt,baking soda and mix well and add water little by little n make it to a thick batter without any lumps.
  9. Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan,when oil gets really hot, take one ball and dip in the besan flour batter and drop carefully into the hot oil and deep fry till it turn golden brown on both sides.
  10. Repeat the same for all the potato filling and u can fry 4-5 at a time.
  11. Now your Aloo Bonda /Aloo chop is ready.Serve hot with ketchup/chutney as a tea time snack.
