Ingredients
- Fish(2-3 pieces) you can take any fish
- Onion sliced(1/2 cup)
- Tomato chopped (1/4 cup)
- Garlic crushed(1tsp)
- Green chili(1-2)
- Panch phoron(1/2 tsp)(Its a mixture of Kalonji,cumin, fenugreek,fennel and carom seeds)
- Black/white Mustard seeds paste (2tbsp) (white mustard seeds tastes good)
- Turmeric powder(2tsp)
- Red chili powder(1tsp)
- Mustard oil as needed
- Salt to taste
- Water for gravy
- Wash the fish and marinate with salt and turmeric powder.
- Heat oil in a pan, fry the fish till the both sides becomes golden brown. take out in a plate and keep aside.
- now using the same oil in the pan, add panch phoron, onion,when onion becomes golden add chopped tomato.
- Now add turmeric, red chili,salt and 1 cup of water.
- When water starts boiling then add mustard seeds paste.Boil for 2-3 min.
- Now add fried fish and green chili.Cook another 2-3 min.(adjust your gravy by adding water.)
- Now your Machher Jhal is ready.Serve hot with Rice.
