Masala Dal


Ingredients
  • Mung Dal(1/2 cup)
  • Masoor Dal(3/4 cup)
  • Tomato(1 large size)
  • Onion(1 largr size)
  • Garlic(2 cloves)
  • Green chili(1 medium)
  • Curry leaves(8-10)
  • Cumin seeds(1tsp)
  • Turmeric powder(2tsp)
  • Dal curry mix powder(optional)
  • Ghee/Butter(3tbsp)
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing

Preparation

  1. Take a pan,put mung dal,masoor dal, turmeric powder, salt and water.
  2. Now put the pan on medium heat for 15-20 minutes for boiling.
  3. Now make onion chopped, tomato chopped, garlic chopped,green chili into 2 pieces.
  4. After 20 minutes, the dal fully boiled, take the pan out from the heat.
  5. Take another pan,leave for heat,add ghee/butter into it.
  6. when the ghee becomes hot, add cumin seeds,chopped onion,chopped garlic, curry leaves, chopped tomato into it one by one.
  7. Fry it for 3-4 minutes till the onion and tomato becomes soft, add the boiled dal.
  8. Mix the dal properly and add dal curry mix powder 2tsp to it.
  9. Add more water if needed(according to your consistency)
  10. Add chopped green chili and coriander leaves to it.
  11. Now your Dal Masala is ready.Serve with Rice or Roti.
