Dal Makhani


Ingredients

  • Black gram (1/2 cup, soaked 4-5 hours)
  • Rajma /Red kidney beans (1/2 cup, soaked 4-5 hours)
  • Tomato puree(2 large tomatoes, make it fine paste)
  • Ginger-garlic paste (2 tbsp)
  • whole garam masala (cinnamon, cardamom, bay leaf)
  • Coriander powder(2tsp)
  • Red chili powder(2 tsp)Dry fenugreek leaves(1tsp)
  • Dal makhani powder(2tsp, optional)
  • Cream (3-4 tbsp)
  • Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • water as needed

Preparation

  1. In a pressure cooker add soaked black gram, rajma, salt,water and boiled till 3-4 whistiles on medium heat.
  2. Now take a pan, add oil when oil is hot add whole garam masala,ginger garlic paste,after 1-2 minutes add tomato puree.
  3. Put coriander powder, red chili powder, salt and mix it well.
  4. Fry till it leaves oil on it and add some water and fry again.
  5. Now add the boiled black gram and rajma, mix it with the masala.
  6. Add dal makhani powder, dry fenugreek leaves and water (adjust to your consistency)Cook it on low heat for 12-15 minutes.
  7. At last add whisked cream, mix it well.
  8. Now your Dal Makhani is ready. Serve it with Steamed rice or naan.
